Has anybody here looked into FINALE 2005 and how you're supposed to be able to load soundfonts directly in? One of the new features is supposed to be marching percussion sounds (from Rowloff) already built in. It's a shame they did not put the Tapspace sounds in instead, or did they try? Has anybody checked this out?
Indeed Finale 2005 contains a few marching percussion sounds in it's included sound set. It's not exactly good to compare it to Virtual Drumline however since VDL is much more extensive in the amount of sounds it offers. VDL may require a little more juice from your computer, and perhaps a little extra patience to learn where all the sounds are located. But as a percussion specialist, the results are well worth it in my opinion. Still, the guys at RowLoff and Finale have done a great job in creating a basic set of sounds that are useable directly within Finale. Kudos!

Jim- (or anybody else in the know)
There is apparently an easy way to drop sound fonts (Virtual Drumline)right into FINALE? Any idea how this works?

Go to MIDI set up the MIDI menu. Click on Softsynth Settings. Click on Select and then choose your soundfont. I won't offer any advice beyond that cos I'm still trying to figure this stuff out myself.
Click on "Click here to read our most frequently asked questions."
That should answer your question!
But long story short:
Need? - Yes
Must have? - Not necessary, but sounds ALOT better.[/quote]
I think Brent has mastered the art of summary to this common question. Nicely stated Brent!

There are no battery sounds that come with Finale 2004 other than the standard MIDI sounds.
