I am using finale 2003, an M-Audio Keystation 49e, and Kontakt. I am having trouble with the actual inputting of the notes. Every time i try and use the speedy entry tool to enter the notes, rests show up. Everything seems to be set up properly. What am i doing wrong?

Since Bill is using an M-Audio keystation, I think his report is evidence that you may not be using the correct driver to communicate with the keyboard. You should be able to download the most current M-Audio Keystation drivers at http://www.m-audio.com

After spending some time on the phone with people from M-Audio, the problem turned out to be a defective keyboard. Got the new one now and it's working just fine. Thanks to everyone for their help/
