Forum Guidelines, etc.

We kindly ask you to observe a few guidelines before posting a question on the Tapspace forum. We appreciate your regarding these simple rules:

1) Legal/Legitimate users only

This forum is specifically for legitimate users who have either purchased legal copies of our products, or are considering purchasing legal copies of our products. We absolutely do not condone piracy with software products or print music products, and if there is any evidence that you have acquired illegal copies of our products, we reserve the right to ban your forum account, as well as taking appropriate legal action against offenders.

2) We do not offer official tech support for NON-Tapspace products

While we encourage the open sharing of ideas, we can not offer official tech support specifically for products such as Soundblaster cards, Sibelius, Finale, Kontakt, etc. Any problems specific to third-party products should be directed to the support departments of the appropriate manufacturer.

3) Search before asking.

Quite often, the question you may want to ask has already been asked here. Please spend some time using the forum's search features to try and find topics pertaining to your question before creating a new topic.

4) When creating a new posting, create a subject that makes sense.

Subjects such as, ";help help help!!";, or ";What the???"; don't give any sense of what the message pertains to, and won't help future visitors in searching for answers. Please be patient enough to think of an appropriate subject line. We reserve the right to edit or delete any posts that do not follow this rule.

5) IMPORTANT: Give your tech specs

If you're requesting assistance for a problem, be thorough and list ALL components of your setup such as your computer type, OS version, RAM amount, which VDL method you're using, soundcard type (if applicable), sampler software and versions, notation software and versions, midi driver type, and any other details specific to your setup. Also be sure to list the various settings you have made within your VDL:2 soundcard setup window, and MIDI in/out settings for your notation program as well as in VDL:2. If you aren't sure what info to include, include everything. Remember, the forum members can't see your computer or what you are doing, so you need to be detailed in your writing and be our ";eyes and ears.";

6) We do not offer official tech support for NON-Tapspace products

Please note that this forum is not considered an official ";technical support"; department. While many answers can be sought here, oftentimes contacting the manufacturer of your particular sampler, computer, soundcard, or notation program is the more appropriate action. We do not guarantee that all information shared on this board is accurate and accept no responsibility for the discussions held here. We do not offer official tech support for products such as Soundblaster cards, Sibelius, Finale, Kontakt, etc. Any problems specific to third-party products should be directed to the support departments of the appropriate manufacturer.

7) Be nice. Use decent grammar. Remain calm.

We encourage open and free communication, but please keep the forum free of bickering. Keep things friendly and informative. Write in complete sentences with proper capitalization, and please avoid things like shouting (ALL CAPS!!! HELP! HELP HELP!!!), and heavy-handed question marks (i.e. what the?????), and non-descriptive problems (i.e. ";Computer doesn't work!!";). Also, text message shorthand is not allowed. This is a place for helpful and intelligent communication, and these types of writing foster an atmosphere that won't be helpful to all users. We reserve the right to edit or delete posts not following this simple rule of courtesy, and repeat offenders may be banned from the forum.

8) Please keep threads "on topic."

Sometimes discussion within forum topics will evolve to other areas of subject matter or spark different discussions. If this happens, rather than continuing in the current thread, we ask that you start a new topic rather than letting the current one spiral into something other than its subject. Forum moderators reserve the right to delete or re-locate posts that veer off course from the original topic being discussed.

9) No shameless soliciting

Our forum is intended to offer a place for support and ideas. It is not intended for advertising or soliciting. Blatant advertisements will be removed from the boards at moderators' discression.

10) No illegal activity

Please do not make posts or Private Messages where members can access illegal materials such as pirated software, bootlegged music/video/sheet music, pornography, viagra, etc.

We reserve the right to edit or delete any posts we deem in violation of these guidelines. We also reserve the right to log IP information of all members, delete member accounts, and ban users based on our best judgement of whether or not they are playing by the rules.

These guidelines will likely be evolving as the board grows. We appreciate your cooperation in observing these guidelines, and look forward to making this community a positive place to look for answers and ideas.
