Does the Kontakt player work as a sound source like Kontakt or Reason?
I'd like to be able to import my finale midi scores into Digital Performer and create aif and wav files along with mp3s before I burn them to CD. I know both Reason and Kontakt will function with DP but what about the kontakt player?
Hi Ted. I assume you mean that Reason and Kontakt function with DP by hosting them within the program, right? I do believe DP will recognize Audio Unit components in which case the answer is yes. Virtual Drumline 2 will include an Audio Unit component that will be included in the installer.
Essentially, VDL2 will work in any of the same scenarios that Kontakt will: VSTi, AU, DXi, RTAS, or simply in standalone. The sounds from within VDL2 will also be loadable in the full version of Kontakt.
hope this helps!

Thanks Jim.
DP works with Rewire and NI programs through AU. I just upgraded to Absynth 3 and Battery 2 and both work very well, I'm waiting now for Reason 3. My concern was with the Kompact player, would DP recognize it either as an AU or VSTi. You've answered that question.
I have another question for you which you may not be able to answer, which is fine. Battery 2 is able to load wav, aif, sf2 files and now giga files and nki files. Would it be possible to load some of the VDL2 files as a way to take pressure off the Kontakt player? More instruments, more polyphony, less number of voices for one program. I'm just thinking out loud and hoping to not have to buy Kontakt to fully use VDL2.
Thanks again and have fun with a drum corps free summer.
