keyboard cymbal crashes in Sibelius template

How should the cymbal crashes, chokes, and rolls be notated in the staves?

I've tried to input some cymbal stuff in both marimba and vibe lines and they are both appear way out of the staff.
You have to do a staff type change when you want a crash or sus.

Create>Other>Staff Type Change>Percussion>VD:2>Marimba Sus. Cym.

Make sure you are working from the Sibelius template provided, if not it won't work.

Don't forget to change back to a pitched staff when you go back to the keyboard, too.

Can the staff type change apply to only one note or the entire measure?

I played around with it for a few minutes last night but I couldn't get things to display correctly in an instance where I have a crash on beat 1, then back to the keyboard on beat 2.
The staff type change can be as long or short as you'd like. In Sibelius, once you've created the staff type change, you should see a faint ";frame"; or handle at the start of the staff type change. Sometimes it's tricky to see, but doing a ";select all"; should reveal it if you don't see it. Just drag it left or right, and you can have pretty detailed control over where the staff type change occurs.
I've been able to successfully change the staff type, but that doesn't change how high the note is. I've tried chaning existing sus. notes and creating new ones in the new staff type, but I'm not having any luck either way.

I'm using Sibelius, by the way.

Thanks!

For best results, I'd suggest placing the staff type change a measure BEFORE you want the new notation to occur. Only once you've done this will you be able to see the proper notation (if you've already entered a note for the new staff type before creating the new staff type, the misplaced note will NOT adjust). So once the staff type has been created (about a bar before), then enter your new instrument (i.e. cymbal) note, and it should work.

I've been finding Sibelius' ";change staff types"; thing works very well, however it can be a little finicky if you try to cut it too close. If you need the change to actually be close together, you can always readjust it after it's been entered by simply sliding the staff type ";handle"; left or right.

hope this helps.
Thanks! That got it.
