Okay, I'm nervous

I've been using VD1 for a while now and have finally become very comfortable using my Roland keyboard for input and sound card for playback. Therefore, I've hesitated in ordering VD2.

How much of a leap will it be going from 1 to 2 and will I be able to continue to use my sound card or have to transition to something else for playback? And will burning CDs still require something like #1SoundRecorder or something internal?

Man, I'm nervous. . .

Thanks,
Steve
Hey Steve - relax and have a drink or something. No need to be so nervous. :)

You'll still use your Roland keyboard to enter notes. You won't, however, load the sounds into your soundcard like you did in the past. Instead, you'll simply load the sounds into slots within the VDL2 Player. It's really simple. All you'll do is send the MIDI info out of your notation program via a midi driver instead of straight to your soundcard. Not a big deal at all. Plus, using the Kontakt Player that comes with VDL2 makes for instruments that are much more versatile than the soundfonts you've been using.

To make audio recordings, if you're used to using #1SoundRecorder or something similar, that will work just fine, or for even more power, use a sequencing program like Logic, Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar, etc. Jesse Mattson has a great tutorial posted in the ";tutorials"; forum about that. That method definitely allows for the best sounding recordings, however is certainly not required.
Okay Jim. . .you buyin'? :D

Well, you know I have to give it a shot. So, I'm getting ready to submit by Registration Form. However, I cannot find a copy of the receipt. I do see where on one VDL1 ";Readme.txt"; file that it was created on 3 Mar 2004 but that's as close as I can get. I'm hoping that you will have a record more specific but that's as close as I can track it. The form will be in the mail today or Monday.

Thanks Jim. . .

Once I hear you kickin out the jams with your new VDL2 recordings, the first round's on me! :)

I'll let the shipping dept. know to look for the form, and they should be able to get in touch with you about verifying the receipt.
Jim, I ran into a problem right up front. I've received VDL:2 and popped the DVD into my player. Nothing happens. I'm now concerned it's good for burning CDs etc., but not for playing DVDs? I out of luck unless I by a DVD player for my system, right?

Thanks,
Steve
The disc that Virtual Drumline 2 comes on is a DVD. You'll need a DVD drive to load the software. The system requirements do specify this.
Okay Jim. . .my system is fairly new and I was SURE I had the DVD drive but alas, it's only a CD burner. My old system had it. . .

Anyhow, just wanted to clarify and I'll be headed to Circuit City today at lunch. Thanks and have a great day!
