Has anyone encountered problems loading VDL2 onto a laptop?

I just got a brand new laptop from Dell. 1.73 Ghz w/ 1 GB RAM and a 8X DVD-RW drive. I'm trying to load all of my applications onto it but I keep receiving errors when trying to install it from my dvd drive. The files take forever and load slowly and the setup.exe eventually stops responding before telling me it can't load one of the files.
I didn't have this problem loading any other programs onto my computer but this one is being difficult. I didn't encounter this problem on my Dell desktop w/ just a regular Dell DVD-Rom.
Hey, I just installed vdl:2 on a dell laptop myself... You're probably having problems with one of the plug-ins... check the user guide to see which one you need based on the software you're using it with... if you're using sibelius or finale you don't really need any of the extra plug-ins. I had the same issue you're having, but I just skipped the plug-ins because I didn't need them, and now i've got everything up and running... IM me @ vandydrummer on AIM if you need anything else... i've gone through a lot getting this program to run on my compter, and I know how frustrating it can be, but it's worth it once you get it going :)

Thanks for the input. I have been able to load it on my desktop with no problems but its just won't play well with my laptop. I'm actually not having an issue installing the plug ins. My computer bails out while I am loading the sound library.
I've been in contact with Jim about it and it is possible that I may just have a bad disc since I got one of the first batch that was sent out. if that doesn't work for me, then I'll give your suggestions a try.

Can you simply copy the contents of the DVD onto your hard drive? Not an install, but a straight copy, can you do that? It might answer some questions....

Yes, i tried to copy the library file from the disc onto the folder location that it should have gone to and it failed there as well. I also tried to copy my disc onto my hard drive w/ my dvd burner and it failed as well.

OK, don't shoot me... but the other one is -- have you cleaned the underside of the DVD? Sometimes it's the simple things...

Yeah, i've tried going through all of that stuff. My disc is spotless and the only time I've had it out of the sleeve it was shipped in was to install it in my desktop whan I first got it.

Has anyone else encountered a problem like this?
