1st question: Is it possible to open more than one instance of VDL2 in conjunction with Sibelius without another 3rd party program. And if so, how do you route it so Sibelius will read from both (I'm using Maple Midi).
2nd question: I do have Cubase SX, and I know how to open multiple instances of VDL2 in Cubase, but I don't know how to make the sounds play through Sibelius. Also, there is a lag in Cubase when I click on a key on the VDL2 keyboard.
Last questions: When I try to open VDL2 as a stand alone, there is no sound coming out when I click on the VDL2 keyboard. This started happening when I installed Cubase and the VST plug-in.
Please help!

I've heard of people doing this by creating a duplicate of the VDL2 application, then routing midi-in (in the VDL2 instances) from different ";ports"; or ";busses"; from Maple MIDI. Using VDL2 this way isn't really supported however. It may work on PC systems, but most likely won't offer the best results. If you decide to try it, just be sure that on instance 1, MIDI-in is set to Maple Midi Port 1. On instace 2, midi-in would be set to Maple Midi port 2. Then in Sibelius' ";mixer"; window, you'd assign staves that are going to instance 1 to Maple MIDI port 1 in the DEVICES pulldown menu (and set channels). Instruments that need to play out to instance to would be set to DEVICE Maple Midi Port 2.

That lag is called ";latency."; There's a direct correlation between that latency, and your soundcard drivers. If you aren't playing ";live"; in real time, some latency is actually not a bad thing. It gives your CPU a better chance at keeping up with all the information your trying to deliver. There are some basic definitions of soundcard drivers in the VDL2 manual. Check out the definitions for ASIO, MMX, Direct Sound, Core Audio, etc. There have been many folks who've had good results by using the ASIO4all driver found at http://www.asio4all.com
