VDL:2 not playing all of the sounds

Here it is...

Using Sibelius 3 and Maple as the VMC.

The communication is working fine, the test on the devices menu in Sibelius works.  And I get sounds when clicking on the keyboard in VDL:2.

The issue is I don't get the correct sounds.  For instance, when I have the Bass Drums loaded (Bassline AutoRL), and I went for playback, I would only get the bottom bass drum sound out of VDL:2 and no other bass drums even though I have split parts.

And the same thing happens with tenors (only getting one or two drums to actually work).

And the snares don't sound correct either.

Did I miss something?

Great. But what I was wondering if I could do that without using the template.

Without the template you don't have the key map set up. The keymap tells the player which midi note assignment goes with which sound. Think of it as a map legend or guide.

What Ted said. Unless you have the urge to kill a lot of time in a tedious way, starting from the VDL2 template is really the most logical starting point. Templates are available at: https://www.tapspace.com/updates

It sounds like you probablydidn't set your staff types in Sibelius. The VDL2 Template defaults to ";Snareline FULL/Lite";, ";Tenors Full/Lite";, etc. If you are using AutoRL instruments, select the first bar of that staff, anc go to Create>Other>Staff Type Change>Percussion, then select the VDL2 staff type that you want to use.
