Sound combination question

I did a search but couldn't find anything specific, but I was wondering if it is possible to use BOTH finale/general midi sounds such as Bass Guitar, Steele Pan, etc AND VDL2.

If so how do I set this up, and if there is a topic already covering this, please post a link and accept my apologies!

Thank you!

If you are using Finale 2005-2006...maybe even 2004, you CAN use both those sounds at the same time.  It just depends on what set u p you are using like Ted said.

If you are using 2006, and are trying to use the Native Instruments Player, you will not be able to use the stock GM sounds with Virtual Drumline.  A good way to use both these sounds would be to have a virtual midi cable in use.  I have Sibelius/Finale connected to Bidule, and in Bidule has Virtual Drumline and the Finale GM sounds open.  There are plenty posts on here about setting that up.  https://www.tapspace.com/forums/index.php?topic=620.0  check that post.  that goes through a question I had while learning VD about playing band sounds in finale and using VD at the same time.

HOPE THAT HELPS.
David,

The best place to find the answer is the Finale forums at the MakeMusic web site. Depending on your platform and the version of Finale you are currently using the answer will be yes or no. For Macs, using the soft synths included with Finale and hardware sound modules is not possible in FIN 2005/06. It can be done, just not with the Finale supplied soft synth. I believe there are similar issues in the Windows platform as well.
