Finale internal soft synth question

Finale 2006 w/ VDL1

Using only finale's internal softsynth the VDL1 sounds work fine with tapspace's template.

But, I can not use any sounds OTHER than those (like pit/ band sounds) unless I have  a) a giga compatible soft synth and use VDL1 and other sounds...    or  b) VDL2 with pit sounds included.

Am I correct? If not, how? I tried manipulating the inst list and changing MIDI channels, but tenors still came out.  Thanks
I'm confused.  Let me see if this helps:

VDL1 is able to be used with giga or as a soundfont.
VDL2 has its own player.

No matter what, you can use a virtual cable to get to VDL2.

Since this is a VDL1 forum, I'll assume the question is for it.  So then the question is what *exactly* are you trying to get to, and what exactly is your current result?

In Finale 2006 and 2005 you CAN NOT use external sound modules or other soft synths/samplers when using the built in sounds. You can use VDL1 or VDL2 in both of these either in stand alone with virtual midi cables or as plugin in the case of VDL2/Finale 2006. Read the Finale forums at MakeMusic and the manuals.

My apologies. The post was written in haste and I am used to other forums. Bad habits die hard.

To hopefully clear this up, Ill just ask a question.

While having VDL1 loaded into Finales internal soft synth, can I get other instruments to play (i.e. marimba) without using an external soft synth (i.e. gigstudio)?

I belive Ted Bloskie has answered this for me. Thanks for the help.
Just exactly how are you loading the VDL1 sounds into the Finale 2006 softsynth? The GPO player is a closed system meaning you can't load any sounds other than the supplied GPO sounds. While the internal softsynth can/should be able to play any SF2 files you still can't load anymore than 1 SF2 file and use more than 1 instance of the device. As for your question about using other sounds, the answer is probably no because you've setup the internal softsynth to play the VDL1 sounds. The best advice is to get VDL2. This will allow you to load multiple instances of the VDL2 player for battery and pit sounds, in theory up to 128 midi channels (16 per device) but in practice only 64 channels because the VDL2 player only allows for 8 channels per device.
