I tried to load snares, tenors, basses, and cymbals. I got the first three and my computer said it was getting low... and could cause fall outs. So I need more memory right?
Once I have this accomplished, how do I load more than 8 voices at a time? Meaning... is it possible to have the entire Finale 2006 template playing all voices at one time?

#1) You probably do need more memory. I don't recall what system and specs you're running. You can also load the ";Light"; versions for the battery instruments (except cymbals).
#2) With Finale2006 you can load each of the NI VST/AU sets with VDL2 if you wish and your computer can handle it.

thank you..
1. I have 1.00 GB of RAM. Is this not enough?
2. How do I do this? Open multiple VDII keyboards?
3. Why do I have -2 Karma points? I'm a good guy.

Try out the forum search feature- this stuff has been addressed many times before.
That said,
1. 1 GB should load a full battery OK, but you might need to use the ";lite"; instruments. You will definitely run out of memory loading all 8 voices if not using the lite versions.
2. You can use a program like MIDI Yoke to open multiple VDL2 players - search the forums for tutorials. You may be able to load more than 1 within Finale 2006 as a VST plugin, but I'm not a Finale user.
3. People probably gave you negative points because these questions come up every day despite a ton of help already posted, and the VDL2 user manual has a lot of info as well.

It's also possible that you're seeing the ";memory low"; messages if you haven't installed DFD (direct from disk). The good thing about using DFD is that instruments will load faster, and won't use as much memory (since the majority of the sample will stream from disk). The negative thing (possibly) can be that if you are streaming from a slow disk, it can make it hard for thick scores to keep up, resulting in occasional CPU spikes. I'd suggest installing DFD (if you haven't already), and using it. Once it's installed, you can dial in your DFD settings with the VDL2 ";options"; button. Set it to ";small instruments";, then max out the ";reserved voices"; to 256 - then hit ";apply"; before closing. That's generally a good starting point for DFD settings.
Don't worry too much about the karma points. They tend to go up and down all the time. It's always a good idea to search thoroughly for your questions before asking them as oftentimes they've been addressed already. Still, don't be afraid to ask questions when you have them.
Also - ditto what Jesse said. Use the ";lite"; instruments when possible. They sound good. If you later decide to do a more detailed recording using multiple passes, the full instruments are a nice option for a little extra detail, but for normal, everyday use, the ";lite"; instruments work best.
