Using General Midi with VDL and Finale

Hey everyone, I apologize if this has already been covered.

Can anyone tell me how to set up mmy midi settings to be able to use general midi sounds along with VDL in the same file on Finale?  I am using the Native Instruments set up internally with Finale.  Basically, I want to combine my wind scores with my percussion scores.

Thanks

AC
Adam,

Check these https://www.tapspace.com/vdl2/tutorials/VDL2_Quickstart.pdf and https://www.tapspace.com/forums/index.php?topic=830.0 .  Both these posts shoould help you out.  Someone else may chime in and offer more suggestions but I bet these two help you out.

Good luck man.
Adam,

If you are looking to use an external sound source for your GM sounds within Finale this is not possible. Basically your choices are external sound modules, built-in sounds (QT GM sounds or the Finale sounds) or the NI plug-ins. Combining any or all of these won't work. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Finale 06 come with the basic GPO sounds sans saxophones?  I could have sworn that my copy came with them included, not as an add-on feature.

You could use those for all except sax sounds.
Bryan,

You're correct. Finale06 includes the GPO plug-in, sans saxophones. Using the GPO and VDL2 is the only option available, either as plug-ins or inside of the full version of Kontakt. It is also important to know that earlier this spring Finale/Native Instruments released an update to the GPO player which did not require registration. The only problem with this is that you can no longer use the GPO player in any app other than Finale06.
