I went on a mission trip to Reynosa, Mexico last week. We built two concrete block houses for two impoverished and needy families. Serving families in Reynosa was like receiving a huge B-12 shot for the soul and spirit. I find it somewhat uncomortable using any public forum to espouse religious/spiritual matters, which I consider personal and private, but I do feel comfortable offering that if you have the opportunity to go somewhere and offer yourself in serving others, please consider doing so. I think you will find it a rewarding experience! I think that sharing this info with you makes sense as the drumming community is truly a supportive and giving group of individuals. Religious/spiritual or not, you can serve others. It's a great experience. Please do give it a try.
I have not been fortunate enough to be able to go on a trip like you describe but it is something that I have always wanted to do. Congrats!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us Neal. You are always so generous with your time and talents, and it's inspiring to see and hear what comes out of that.
