Are there certain settings for the VDL2 AU unit plugin (polypony, dfd, # of voices etc) that will provide the best quality when making recordings via a sequencer?

I do my bouncing offline and would love to get the best sound possible.

Also, for those of you who make professional recordings with VDL2, do you use compression? If so, what type and how much?
