How Fast??

Well.. right now im using Finale 2003.. and i have VDL1.. but i am going to buy VDL2 along w/ Sibelius.. hopefully i'll be able to switch over w/ ease.. but anywho..
i was debating whether to grab a Midi Keyboard.. but i have some questions.. :
I hear that it is easier and quicker to use the midi keyboard.. but how quick?? like right now i don't have one.. i use just the template and i just hit the low bar and drag up to find the sounds.. takes a while.. but is this much easier to do w/ the keyboard?? b/c right now.. i don't have time to input stuff when i write it down bc it takes too long to input it.. i just need to figure out how fast and easy it is to do this.. thanks ahead of time..
appreciate it..

Jeremy,

Last time I tested the keyboard vs. no keyboard timing, it took me over an hour to input a 16 bar cadence without the keyboard.  This includes inputting the notes, changing the noteheads and all that stuff.

With the keyboard, the same cadence took me about 20 minutes tops.
Get the keyboard!  If cost is an issue, go with the M-Audio Oxygen 8 or O2.
Actually, the Keystation 49 is the cheapest of them all the M-Audio's
Wow tahts totally fast.. is this easy to work w/ ??  i mean the keyboard and VDL2?? like user friendly? i know it works together but how easy??
thakn

AH - I forgot about the Keystation 49!

As for the speed working with VDL2 and all that - it is pretty quick once you get the hang of the interface and the like.  As for HOW quick, that kind of depends on your personal level of comfortableness with musical software and the like.  It is not ";plug and play"; but it does not take a computer science degree either.  You would be fine.

Best of luck.
If you are using Windows XP, the Keystation 49e is plug and play on a USB 2.0 port, as XP already has the necessary driver for it to work. However, USB 1.1: no dice.

Not sure about Macs.

Jeremy - you are not allowed to split software like this. The Sibelius that you and your friend bought comes as a single user license. This means that only one person is allowed to use (and register) the software that came with the one serial number. If you and your friend go against that, you are breaking the law. Please don't expect support at this site for pirated software.

If you have questions about Sibelius licensing, or its system requirements please consult directly with Sibelius at:
http://www.sibelius.com
Sorry about that Mr. Casella.. i'll get my money back from him.. and buy one by myself.

Thanks
Jeremy
