I was going through the latin lover bass part & noticed that in m.13 there is no tie on beat 1 of the buzzes. just want to make sure i learn it right for auditions. also what do the the slashes mean on the 5th bass part from m.9-15?
Mike - thank you for catching this. It is in fact a typo.
Measure 13 in the Green Beats version of "Latin Lover" should have a tie on the first bass drum buzz roll.
We'll fix this for the next print run of Green Beats.

I saw a video of The Cavaliers playing Latin Lover and I think the slashes mean to muffle the bass drum.

This is correct. Probably not any sort of standard notation, but the 5th bass part is intended to be muffled with the left hand when you encounter this notehead.
