Long Ranger/ MegaVox Purchase Suggestions

I know this is outside of the VDL realm, but I'm not sure where else to ask, so.......

Can anyone give me suggestions on where to purchase a Long Ranger or MegaVox PA system.  I need to purchase one for the high school I work with and I can't seem to find many places that sell them.  Any help with this is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
Try McCormick's. Good folks, good service.

Thanks Jim.  I apologize for cluttering the forum with non VDL related posts.
McCormicks is great!  Good place for outdoor PA systems as well

Neil,

You might give Anchor Audio a try as well.
You can locate that company at:

We just purchased new equipment for
the marching band and I purchased a
new amplification set-up for the percussion
section that allows us wireless use of the
metronome.  Nice that someone does not
have to run over to the met and change the
settings.  We can now do it from where we
are standing.  In any event, a little more
info in the decision-making process should help.
Good luck!

Take care!

Neal - which specific set up did you get with the wireless met thing?

Thanks!

Dave,

Howdy!  Just finished a long day of band camp.  We got the Megavox.
It works quite well with either the Yamaha or Tama metronomes
that we have.  You can also get a wirelss mic to go with it, and if
I understand correctly, you can use a metronome wirelessly as well.
Hope that helps!  Hope you've had a great weekend!

Take care!

At my school we use the Megavox with two wireless headsets and a metronome that is plugged into the speaker.  If we are using the metronome on the field behind the drumline, one of the drum majors carries the metronome plugged into a Long Ranger.

Gotcha!  Thanks man!

The wireless metronome setup is nice. I've had some interference issues with the transmitter when using the metronome, but once I find a good place to set it all down, it works fine. Much more convenient in situations where a performer is in charge of setting up the PA and I keep the met with me during transport. My program uses two Megavox PAs. One is a single channel wireless and the other is dual. You can use the daisy chaining to double the output on the field, or send one unit off with the battery staff and keep one for the horn arc (and call them back wirelessly). In the classroom, I set both channels of the dual PA to pick up the metronome to give me some backup in case one receiver gets flaky on reception. We bought the systems with the lav. microphone, and got the ";instrument cable"; afterwards. It was about $14 or so.

I know this is a bit off topic but does anyone know of a place that repairs Long Rangers? We have 2 at the school I teach but one does not work properly. it might be something as simple as needing a new battery.

We've been able to send our Long Ranger off to our Music Store's Repair shop to get it repaired. If that's not an option, give them a call direct.

I believe that McCormick's has a battery replacement kit.
