Steel Drums?

Hi Mr. Casella,
This is Chris from JSU, you might remember me barraging you with questions at PASIC a couple of years ago about VDL2.  I have since purchased the product and have been using it in arranging for my high school group, college and parking lot stuff for Spirit.  I enjoy the product and have been getting great use out of it; however, I am an avid steel drummer and feel the need to have access to this type of sampling as well.  Are there any steel drum samples forcasted for future versions/updates of the VDL program?

Chris Ozley

(not sure if this topic has been covered already, sorry if it has!)
On a related note, A scottish prepared pipe drum would be a nice addition.
I 2nd & 3rd the steel drum request.

It would really require less sampleing than that of 3 regular mallet instruments  Course getting the instruments might be harder.  Call Ron at Panyard.
This is definitely something we've thought about. Can't say for sure when/if it will happen, or whether it'd be its own library or an add-on to VDL, but it's certainly something that we'll chew on. Thanks!
It would be really kool if we could purchase multi set-up's! With my impact and rack set-ups changing fequently I find myself spending more time making the template. LOL! It would be awesome if I could specify my needs and it's delivered to my email account... :) Just a thought.. I would gladly pay 10-15 for that service.
Another Idea would be to gear a release towards concert percussion and really go all out with the extended techniques of the instruments, (slap mallets for marimba, bowed vibes, marimba, crotales, mexican marimba, Udu drum, Tabla, Bata, the entire brazilian collection etc. ) RARE percussion instruments from percussion ensemble and orchestral music.
You're brilliant Robbie. That would definitely be a sought after library.
Shoot me an email at bill_castillo@sbcglobal.net and I can help you out with creating multi's for you.
Right on Bill. Once.. Always..Long Live... Will email you soon.

And an instructional video on how to use all of those techniques! Seriously, when my confidence in my percussive skills are finally hovering around zero, this board knocks them back down to -1000!

Humbling for sure. But such a great education!
