Is there somewhere I can get a Demo of this program? I would hate to spend $200 on it and not knowing if I like it or not. I know Finale and Sibelius have demos. Just wondering.

You do not need the demo - trust the MANY, many happy customers.  Both you and your writing/arranging will never be the same after you purchase VDL2.  Shell out the 200 bones.

Well I may purchase it. I have been teaching drumlines for so long and really not ever found anything I like....I currently have Sibelius but it's really more than I need.

VDL:2 has completely changed the way I do things. Instant feedback is the main thing -- I can hear exactly what it should sound like once it is on the page. This has caused me to write so many less ";written ticks"; because I can tell immediately that it is not going to work and then change it!

Not to mention all of the times I thought I was voicing something correctly only to hear upon playback that I could much more mileage out of a subtle change. With keyboard doublings and what not, that is vital.

What about your students? Don't you think they'd want to hear the ";gold standard"; before they even played a note? Of course they would. It's an invaluable teaching tool to boot!

You won't regret the purchase and if you have any troubles getting it up and running, this forum is an incredible resource!

Just in case there's some confusion, Sibelius is a notation program whereas Virtual Drumline is a [i]sounds[/i] program. VDL does not write notation. In your case, you'd use VDL along side Sibelius (notation/midi in Sibelius, sounds from VDL).

Sorry there's no demo version currently available, however some of what's possible can certaily be heard from the audio demos. Be sure to carefully read through the FAQ  at:

...as well as all the system requirements.

You will be more than happy with this program.�� You can also use the sounds with the less expensive versions of Finale (Allegro 2005, and PrintMusic).�� This way you wouldn't have to purchase the $600 full version of Finale to use VDL2.�� I am not sure if Sibelius' ";children"; programs work that same way but you may want to contact them to see if those programs allow for the use of more external sounds.�� But this can be done With some of the ";children"; products of Finale.

I would also encourage you to check o ut some of the User Demos and Official Demos on the site to check out what is possible.  Plus there are always great people on the forums to offer help.
