Welcome to VDL:2. I am sure Jim, Murray and Bill are busy gearing up for Pasic so I will answer. There are many options for utilizing more then 8 channels. Your first stop shold be the Tapspace support page www.tapspace.com/support. From there you should search the forums. There have been many discussions about this topic (probably more then any other topic!).
Here are some keywords to search for in the forum:
Good luck and let us know if you need help getting up and running.

Which notation product do you use? Finale 2006 + can load multiple instances of the VDL player within the notation program itself. If you are looking to do this outside the program, try checking a program called Bidule (http://www.plogue.com, or maybe even a program called Kontakt 2 from Native instruments http://www.native-instruments.com. Bidule is a lot less expensive and would allow you to load multiple instances of the VDL player within. You can then have your Notation program ";read"; from Bidule by setting the Midi Out to be the Bidule program.
I personally use Bidule, but in some of my scores I am beginning t run into a ";Wall"; as it were were it just can not handle any more information. Loading my sounds directly into Finale solved the problem. There may be a way if you use Sibelius, but I am not as familiar anymore with that program as I have not used it in a while. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.
ok, im using sibelius and thats it. Just a laptop, Sib., and VD2. and PC

Windows or Mac OS? How much Ram do you have installed? If you only have 512 MB then 8 channels will be all your laptop can handle.

This is a bit shallow... are you using MidiYoke? How are you getting everything to work?
MORE details.... the more you tell us, the less back and forth there will be...
ok thanks guys, now that i have all that working i have another question. When i play with the MOD with marimba, if its all the way up it turms into rolls. How can i make it go from normal notes to rolls in my score?

You have to write in a controller change. In Sibelius:
1. ctrl+e or ctrl+t 2. type in ~C1,120 3. highlight the bar or note you have written a roll and turn off the tremelo playback. Make sure you add ~C1,000 before the next non-rolled note to reset the controller.
This is also what you do for other various changes throughout the ensemble, consult your keymaps.
