VD2 and Sibelius on the new Intel Macs

Hey everyone

I may be making a serious purchase soon and I'm curious about compatibility.

I plan on buying a new MacBook Pro laptop.  I know this now runs on an Intel processor.  If I buy Sibelius and VD2, will it work on the new MacBook Pro?

Thanks!

Thanks for the help.

Any word yet on when a Universal Binary version of VD2 will be available?
No word yet, but it is being worked on. In the meantime, VDL2 can be run (unsupported) with Rosetta emulation, or if you definitely require Universal Binary compliance, purchase Kontakt 2 by Native Instruments (who just released their UB 2.2 version) which can directly load VDL2 sounds.

When more information on a UB VDL2 release date is nearer, watch this forum and the Tapspace website. It will be announced here first.
I should be getting a macbook pro in the next month or so.  Should I wait to buy VD2 when the UB version is out?  Or will I do ok with the current version.  I will be using it for Battery writing mostly.

Also, do you know if Sibelius works fine on the new Intel Macs?

Thanks!

Depends on how long you want to hold out for VDL:2.  Tapspace hasn't released a timeline for the UB version release.  Battery sounds are less taxing on your machine then most of the keyboard and cymbal sounds.  I was running VDL:2 and Sibelius under Rosetta and was doing just fine.  Two keywords for you to remember when running under Rosetta, Processer speed and RAM.  The more you have the  better.
We don't plan to charge for the update (except for possibly a shipping charge of a new upgrade disc), so you don't necessarily have to wait. More details will be forthcoming.
