Hello. I just got done installing VDL2 on my new laptop. Ive used this program on my other laptop for over a year and ive reinstalled it multiple times so im fairly familar with the setup. ive got everything done except i cannot get the music to playback in Finale. Ive checked all the midi setups and made sure the virtual cable is on, but still nothing. any advice on what i might be missing?
Im using an oxygen 8 midi keyboard for input, the Maple tools virtual cable, and Finale 2003.
Hey man, I know sometimes if you have a certain playback style like ";samba or marching"; selected that it won't play or play your control changes. Try that...mabye it might work. Its been over a year since I've used finale though, I'm a little rusty with my finale chops.

Please supply all the exact settings from Finale (MIDI IN, MIDI OUT, MIDI THRU, Instrument list), as well as VDL2 (soundcard settings, and MIDI settings). Without knowing exactly what your settings are, it's tough to guess.

Max,
Some things to check and provide us, like Jim was saying, would be:
1.) Go to the Midi Menu and what are is your Midi In and Midi Out set to 2.) Go to your Window Menu -->Instrument List and do you have anything Muted. You would be surprised at how many times people forget about this...I just did twice today and just about slapped myself for forgetting the battery was muted. :) 3.) Go to the Midi Menu -->Midi Thru and what is checked there? 4.) Were you using any other audio programs at the time that you lost sound? Try doing the following:
Deleting Your Preferences on Windows Please follow the following steps: ۢ My Computer -->C:\ Drive (Local Disk C:\)-->Program Files Folder --> Finale 2xxx ۢ Look for the two files that are labeled FINALE.INIand ";FINMIDI.INI"; o If you go up to the top of the window you are looking at and click the View Menu and click on Details, these files would be type: ";Configuration Settings"; o They look like two white spiral notepads with ONE orange gear-like icon on the right side. ۢ Delete these two files. Empty your trash. Restart your computer. Reopen your program
Let's see if any of these things lead to you getting your sound back.
