Kontakt 2 playback not quite right

Hey everyone

I just got Kontakt 2 and I'm loving it so far; however, I've got a bit of a problem with playback. After I've loaded the instruments in banks I test them using the keyboard window. For instance, I'll press a C on marimba once; it sound great. If I press it a second time right after it has less volume. If I press it several times in a row quickly it decrescendos and skips like crazy. This happens with every instrument. Also, the same exact thing happens when playing the sounds back in Sibelius 4. So, my playback is pretty awful to say the least. I searched for a solution to this problem everywhere on this forum, but no luck. Here is what I've tried:

Removing reverb from all instruments
Making sure retrigger is orange in all instruments
Everything is being loaded into RAM instead of DFD
Lowering my latency in K2

My specs:

Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz
2 Gigs RAM
Soundblaster Audigy

When I use VD2 as a standalone program everything sounds great, but in K2 these problems occur. Please help!

Pat,

Have you installed the VDL2 library version 1.5 update yet? If not, it can be retrieved here:
https://www.tapspace.com/updates

What you're describing was a problem with a few instruments before this update, but definitley not most of them. So I'm not sure if that's the problem or not. It does sound like you've tried some common remedies

Also, what version of Kontakt 2 are you using? It is recommended that you use version 2.1.1. Since you are a registered user of K2, simply download the update once you've logged in here:
http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=updates_us

Are you using the ASIO driver for your Soundblaster card? Set this in the K2 soundcard setup under ";interface.";

Let me know if these updates help. My hunch is they will.
Jim,

I tried all your suggestions and it fixed the problem perfectly. I'm pretty sure it was the Kontakt update that did the trick. Thank you!
