I am buying a new laptop and I was curious to see what you much smarter and more techical savvy people think -- I want to make sure you think it should be sufficient to run VDL2 with Cubase and Sibelius 4:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667MHz FSB) 2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 DIMM 160GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive Sound Blaster® Audigy™ HD Software Edition
I have a similar setup for my laptop and it works great. I'm not a big fan of the Audigy line (prefer m-audio) but it's better than the stock soundcard and should give you good midi latency.
I just mentioned in another thread that getting a Mac is a little more expensive, but keeps its resale value very well. You can get a factory refurbished model from apple.com for a good price, and get a comparible price when it's time to upgrade to a newer model. If you drop $2k on a dell or similar pc, you'll be lucky to get half of that when you sell it. OS X is superior to Windows for media creation anyways, and it's the standard for ";pro"; studio use. But if you must play video games on it, then get the PC :)

Yeah... so how does Half-Life 2, Battlefront II, Battlefield 2142, Elder Scrolls IV, Far Cry, or F.E.A.R. run on that Mac?

Yeah... games... I'm a nerd. Every time I try to silence my inner geek and become a productive citizen, Lucasarts releases another Star Wars game.
