Hello! Please go to www.mdb.ua.edu and click on Divisions and then Percussion. Check out Out of The Bottle, Tapped Out, and Mickey-us. Those are our three basic warm-ups we use with the front ensemble and battery. Eight-on-a-hand and other basics are a good time for the cymbals to work different techniques/sounds (zischen, tap, slide, etc.) and/or split parts. At faster tempos you might want to have an alternative to the split parts. If you like, I can put you in touch with our cymbal instructor. He marched BD with Mystique this past season and currently marches BD with the Crusaders. Sometimes, during basic exercises, the cymbals use the time to stretch, work on visuals, or visual aspects of their playing. Hope the info. Helps!
Take care! Neal

Keith, You and I are on the same page. I am reworking our warm-up program, and am at somewhat of a loss as to what to do for cymbals. I haven't actually marched a cymbal line in 6 or 7 years, but I may need to with my numbers next year. Let me know what you come up with. I could use the input.
I hope you and the family are well.

Sorry I took a while to get back to you...had to do the whole school end-of-year junk. I need to edit a couple of things in the music that my cymbal captain pointed out to me and I can e-mail anyone who wants them. They're mostly simple skills that go along with the rest of the battery, but it's where they need to be so they can coordinate their movements and get the fundamentals straightened out. Unfortunately, I left the edits at school and won't get to them until Tuesday after percussion camp. But I'm on it!
