Hey Everybody- I was reading through this month's issue of Percussion News, and saw the Tapspace ad for VDL 2.5, directing us to this website for more info. Well, what new information is this? :)
This will be the new update for VDL that will be coming out. It is not released at this time and is currently being built and tested. I am sure Jim can give a more official statement as to when this will be expected. Jim?

Could this be the much anticipated UB version?!?!?!
With the updates and new abilities (64 channels, saving multis, etc) is there still a need for Kontakt 2?

It depends. Do you want to make custom instruments? You can't see the sample blocks without it. But your thought about eliminating a lot of need to buy it is probably correct; there will be fewer uses, though still important programming ones.

I really appreciate the fact that they're not making current VDL 2 users pay full price for an upgrade. It shows that they really want to take good care of their costumers. Thanks

The most important thing for me right now is-- does it allow banks? I'm on the verge of buying Kontakt 2, but if VDL 2.5 supports banks, I have no reason to get Kontakt. But that's an great upgrade, you guys amaze us all. Thanks!

I think the prudent thing to do here is to wait and see if the new player fits your needs. If after trying it you still need Kontakt 2, then go for it. But my suggestion would be to see if this update does what you require.

I think timpanzi asked a great question. I believe everyone here will get the update, but a question for those of us saving our pennies for Kontakt 2 is will the VDL 2.5 allow the use of banks so we can load more then one instrument per channel?
