I have a song already written for a full marching band score on Finale 2006. Is it possible to set up Finale 2006 to playback the percussion parts using virtual drum line sounds while keeping the sounds of other instruments (i.e. flute, clarinet ...) ?
Always try the ";search"; box in the forum before posting questions. I just entered in ";existing score"; and found something I think will help you understand your question. Try this post:
That shold get your started. If you still have questions, please let us know and we will try to help more.
Best of luck.

We will need some further information about your system, Willy.
1.) Mac or PC?
If you choose to do this from within Finale and check PLAY FINALE THROUGH NATIVE INSTRUMENTS VST, then you will not be able to hear the MIDI band sounds that you have set up in the score. If you are using WINDOWS, th is is possible however there is a delay between the NI sounds and the MIDI sounds. I would suggest using BIDULE for this pu rpose as it works great for hearing MIDI band and VDL drumline sounds together. Once you choose PLAY FINALE THROUGH... you override every other option in terms of MIDI playback.
There are plenty of posts on here about setting up with Bidule.
https://www.tapspace.com/forums/index.php?topic=620.0 - from some time ago when I was first starting. This will be if setting up on Macintosh. If you are setting this up on Windows, you would need a Virtual MIDI Cable to connect Bidule and Finale correctly.

This is actually a feature in Finale 2008 as well. You can now use your VSTs and MIDI sounds at the same time as they have made the MIDI sounds a VST. For more information check www.finale.com.

Hrmm... yeah that is. Is that a similar setup to the ";Sibelius Essentials"; VST that comes prepacked for normal band sounds in Sib5? That'd be great to host everything native and have that set up upon document opening.

They have basically made the SmartMusic SoftSynth MIDI sounds a VST (or Audio Unit on MAC) so that it can be used in conjunction with the virtual instruments that you are already using - like VDL.
