Finale 2008 NOW SHIPPING

Finale 2008 is now shipping.  Go to www.finale.com for more information.
I believe Sibelius 5 is shipping now as well.  Time to break out the credit card again. ><
No doubt, I believe if 2008 is the real deal, I'll have to upgrade from 2005 to '08.  =D

Anyone looking into Finale 2008?
The jump from 2005 to 2008 would be benefit some pretty nice new features for you.  I might get 2008 so that I can work in Finale when I'm working with people that prefer Finale, and I know some friends are complaining about the lack of point-release features from 2007, but it still looks pretty solid.  Now that the integrated playback is kind of level for both programs it'll be interesting to see where people put their money.
My copy arrived an hour ago. I'll let everyone know how things shake out.

I've spent only an hour or so with the program and so far so good. VDL shows up in the Kontakt player along with the Garriton FIN2006 sounds and an updated set of FIN08 Garriton sounds. VDL seems to load up very quickly on my iBook, maybe even a bit faster than loading them into the full version of Kontakt. There are some minor changes to the menus mainly combining both the EDIT & Mass Mover Tools as well as putting both Audio and Midi in the same menu. As I said, I've only spent an hour working with it and have not yet tried to break it.

Ted,

Your post above made me think of the line from the Rocky movie where Rocky fights the Russian and in the pre-fight stare-down,  the Russian guy says to Rocky, ";I must brrreak you.";  Good stuff!
Thanks Dave. The other thing I have not yet tried is to open the KP2 player that loaded with FIN08 within a FIN07 file. That might be interesting.

It should work. it wasn't the case with 2007 to 2006 due to some changes in the Kontakt Player and 2006 being written to work with Kontakt Player 1.
except.... HP in 2007 doesn't work well with KP2.2 due to changes that NI made in the player when looking for Device names. So you would have to change the device name in the HP preferences to be ";Kontakt 2";. Even then it might not work.
Scott,

Thanks for the info and heads up on FIN07. It'll come in handy when the FIN07 people start to use the new player.
