I thought I would post this on this board to see if any of you guys could help. This is a Sibelius question and I apologize for asking it here but I have called the tech support number for Sibelius and they are still ";out for the holiday";. I also posted this on the Sibeliusforum.com site in a couple of places but it doesn't look like that board is frequented much. If any of you can help I will be ETERNALLY grateful!!!
I just recently came upon a problem. I am currently working on a project. I am using Sib 4.1.5 build 104 on a Mac G5 (pre Intel). I am also using Kontakt 2 (2.2.2.001) and VDL2.
My problem is this. Everything was working fine. I have Sibelius (same version and build as mentioned above) on my school computer (Dell with a Pentium D 3 GHz processor and 3 GHz of Ram). I started a score there and brought it home. When I opened it on my Mac, I received an error message that says
";Device Not Found"; A Midi playback device can't be used. You could choose Playback and Input Devices from the Play menu and set only one device to be used; or if you've changed the MIDI devices installed in your computer, click Find New Devices.";
I had not changed any of the setting in Sib. on the Mac prior to opening the file. The file will open fine but will not play any sounds that I can hear from the speakers. I have checked and the volume is not turned all the way down and I have also tried playback both with and without the external speakers plugged in.
Anyone know how to fix this problem? I really need to get this arrangement completed as soon as possible!
I've had that happen before, and a quit/restart of Sibelius normally would fix it. Going from pc to Mac could be the root of the problem, did you try to reset sounds? I had that same problem when I switched to my iMac with my old files. Reset the sounds and see if that helps.

[color=Yellow]";A Midi playback device can't be used. Did you get in touch w/ Ian? I forgot to ask him when I talked with him yesterday.
