Strange Finale 2007 occurence

I have used Finale for circa 16 years...and I love the program.  Yesterday I ran into a really wierd situation.

I have a percussion ensemble playing.  I have my percussion 2 part on Channel 18, where in Kontakt 2 I have an instrument bank.  Guiro is in the second slot, orchestral tambourine in the first.

Under the staff, I have a percussion map setup.  It is set to use the sounds which are highlighted.  I input the notes, and I hear the playback on the instrument I am intending on hearing.  I play the score, and nothing.  I messed with this using both sounds.  Finally, I removed the percussion map, and the sounds began playing when I played back the score.  So in essence, the percussion map seems to be blocking me from having that sound playback.  I even tried muting all the other instruments and soloing perc 2.  I did everything.  It wasn't until I emoved the percussion map that things seem to work right.  This has never happened to me before, and I am wondering if anyone else has seen this happen?

Robby,

In the percussion map itself, can you look at the MIDI PLAYBACK NOTE. There will be the number at the far left, and then there will be a PLAYBACK NOTE. Make sure this doesn't say 0, or a number that doesnt match anything. I have seen this a few times.

Am I correct in saying that when you have loaded that percussion map and activated it for use with that particular staff, you do not hear anything on that staff? Or, do you hear nothing at all?

Do you have any hidden expressions in that area that are assigned to do a Program Change? Is this sharing a channel with anything else?

If you want to, you can send the file to me and I will gladly look at it.
Check in the percussion map to see that you have ";checked"; the notes to used for playback. Select the notes with the playback setup and in the lower right corner of the form, select the ";highlighted note"; box and select the ";All named notes"; box. There should be an asterisk before the number in the ";MIDI pitch"; section of the map for the notes you want to hear. That's happened to me a few times.

Also a very good suggestion. I was assuming that you had already done this.  Good suggestion Matt.  Never assume I guess  :)
