I just received my new version of VDL 2.5, and am having a startup issue. When I go to Start>All programs>Tapspace Virtual Drumline 2.5>Kontakt Player 2, I get an error message in a window titled ";KontaktPlayer2: KontaktPlayer2.exe - Unable to Locate Component"; that reads ";The application has failed to start because PRM.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.";
I tried reinstalling, but still get the same error message. Any ideas?
On a second note, when I have played back a score with the Kontakt Player in Finale 2008, I get an error message when exiting the program in a window titled ";SmartHeap Library"; that reads ";MEM_BAD_POINTER";. I mention this because I wonder if they are related issues. Any thoughts?
I'm running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 on a Gateway M685 with an Intel Core Duo processor (T2500 @ 2.00 Ghz) with 2GB of RAM.
For the issue regarding your PRM.dll file: Do you have any Adobe Software/Hardware installed on your machine?
A bug has been fixed that could cause the following message to be displayed on startup on systems that included some Adobe applications: ";This application has failed to start because PRM.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.";
If you Google this error message you will find many instances of this. Maybe you can try reinstalling your hardware drivers or Software for your Adobe Products.

Also Carl, while you're looking into this, I'd recommend you post a support question with the NI Technical team as well. My hunch is this might be something they're more familiar with than we are.
(note, you'll need to be logged in with your NI username to fill in the form)
Error Message: SmartHeap Library. MEM_BAD_POINTER. This program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor. X caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32.dll at X.
Is this the exact error message that you get? If not, what is the exact/full message. Have you tried completely uninstalling VDL 2.5 and Kontakt player 2 before reinstalling? This would include any and all Registry keys for the items. I can help with that if you need.

Thanks all for the feedback. I've played with it a little and here is what I've come up with.
1) I do have several Adobe programs (Distiller 7.0, Acrobat 7.0, Designer 7.0, Photoshop Elements 3.0, Premiere Elements 1.0, Reader 7.0) installed.
2) I tried reassigning the Interface under File>Audio/MIDI setup, and it seemed to fix the problem when I set it to DirectSound or MultiMedia. The problem persists when ASIO is selected.
So, it seems that issue 1 is resolved. Issue 2 is still a problem I'll pursue with NI.
