Keyboard panel input for banks in Kontakt Player 2

This is kind of an odd question, but maybe someone knows the answer to it.
I don't always have my keymaps handy, so a lot of times I resort to the tried and true ";poke around on the keyboard until you find the right sound"; approach. I've found in KP2 that this doesn't really work well (or at all?) with instrument banks.
If you click the ";keyboard"; button in KP2 it brings up a virtual keyboard, and if you select a standalone instrument you can play its sounds with the keyboard. There's no way that I've found to do this with instruments inside of banks. You can select the bank, and highlight the specific instrument that you want, but the keyboard still defaults to the last isolated instrument you had selected.
Anyone figure out a way to use the virtual keyboard to operate instruments inside of banks?
Try double-clicking on the instrument that is loaded into the instrument bank. That should allow you to audition the sound [/quote]
That doesn't work for me. It still defaults to whatever stand-alone instrument was last selected (not in the bank).

Justin,
when you load an Instrument Bank from either the VDL 2.5 Instruments -->BANKS or if you click on the ";INSTRUMENTS"; at the top left of the Kontakt Player 2 and then choose EMPTY BANK you should be then a le to load certain sounds into the slots for that bank (i.e. into the slots named 001, 002, 003, etc). I am assuming that you have gotten this far and have clicked the gears on the left inside of the Empty Bank and then loaded sounds into the different slots by dragging the sounds into their respective slot. Once this has been done when you double click on the loaded sounds that are inside the empty bank (in one of the 128 slots) you should see the mapping at the bottom change to reflect what sound you just double-clicked. Then you should be able to audition that sound. It has to be a double-click rather than a single click to highlight it.
UPDATE: This looks to only hapen when you are mixing Instrument Banks with non-banks. I have seen it reset to the sound that you have selected in the Instrument Bank when you click and make like you would drag the voice that has the highlight around it - but actually don-t. You will then see the highlight disappear and then you can click the sounds in the instrument Bank and audition them. It looks like a standalone instrument cannot be selected. This is the only way I can find at this time to DESELECT the standalone instrument.
Ill keep checking. I hope that makes sense.

OK...I am an idiot. If you have a standalone instrument with the yellow highlight around it...just click again to unhighlight it...then choose an instrument in the Bank. You should then be able to hear it correctly.

Haha yeah that seems to work. It must of behaved that way because a stand-alone instrument was still highlighted. Thanks.

Are you able to do this if the bank in question isn't in the first (topmost) position in the rack? I can't seem to.
In KP2, double-clicking instruments in a bank doesn't do much. In Kontakt 2 it opens the instrument in the editor, but this was one of the admitted limitations when NI added bank support into KP2.
Still, I'd be curious to hear if you guys have discovered a tried and true way to observe the keyboard mapping from instruments inside various banks.

Hrm yeah no I can't in this case either, and I think it's what drove me to pose the question in the first place (b/c my banks are usually my percussion parts at the bottom of the score).
I can do it if the bank is in the first slot like I mentioned earlier, but no dice if the bank isn't in the first slot.
This is a pretty annoying limitation on KP2's part, do you think it's a software bug?

It seems to be that the Instrument Banks have to be the first instruments loaded and then they can be moved anywhere. If you add something before it and then move it to the top position you still will not be able to see the mapping. If the Instrument Bank is loaded 1st it can be moved anywhere it seems - and can be any channel. The problems seems to be then - what if you are using multiple instrument Banks? That is the question I think now. It seems like if you wanted to view the mappings then you would be able to only use ONE instrument bank and that would have to be the first thing you loaded.
I mostly use Kontakt 2 so I was thinking ...yeah double-click. Nope. I should have had more AMP to drink to wake up after a long day of work.
