VDL 2.5 Crotale playback

Hey guys I recently upgraded from VDL 2 to 2.5 and I love all the changes.  One thing I'm having a little trouble with is getting the crotales to play back correctly.  They only play back the C and D below the staff and the G,A,B, and C above the staff, nothing actually in the staff.  Do I have something set up wrong maybe?  It's weird because it will play and I hear it correctly but it only plays the notes I mentioned.  I had searched the forum but this is the first time I've sen any problem like this. Any help is much appreciated.

Hrm that certainly is strange.  A few things to check off the top of my head:

- Make sure there isn't some strange staff type set in that measure.  I would go to ";Create -> Other -> Staff Type Change -> Pitched -> 5 Lines"; and set that just in case there's something weird going on there.

- You said entry is right but the playback is wrong?  I know with an Oxygen sometimes it can get weird transposition settings applied to the notation program, so you might just want to try a reset of the keyboard.  To reset the V2 to factory default settings power off the keyboard, hold down the + and - data buttons (in the middle of the keyboard), and then power it back on with the buttons held.

- I would just double-check the channels and makes sure there aren't any conflicts

Let us know some things that you've tried, and hopefully we'll be able to track it down.
Hey Justin thanks for the tips. Yea I double checked all my channels and theyre all correct. I tried some other notes and found that all the crotales actually play back like 12 or 13 leger lines below the staff(or whatever it is). So its playing back the sound, but its nowhere near where it should be in the staff. I tried doing the staff type--> pitched thing but it didnt seem to do anything. I reset my keyboard a couple of times but to no avail either. This is really strange.

I'm also having some trouble getting some of the triggers for the Rack Combo B to work correctly. Whenever I go to put in say a tam tam strike, it plays back correctly when I hit the E2 (i tihnk) but when I play it back with the whole score it reverts to a tom-tom. I tried the same thing with the staff type change--> percussion--> VDL:2 Rack Combo B but it still does the same thing. I'm getting ready to upgrade to Sibelius 5 in about a week or 2 so hopefully that might alleviate some problems but I need to finish some scores before then.

Help is much appreciated.
Try doing a transposition change for your crotale staff. Click once on the first bar of your crotale staff (so it's framed). Then go to the ";create"; menu, and select ";transposition change."; Be sure Middle C plays back as Middle C.
dhs,

Do some research about the jump to Sib5 here on tthe forums.  It seems like it will be a good move, but you might want to wait a little longer.  Sib3 is good as long as you can figure these annoyances out.  I use Sib4, and it is working great with VDL 2.5.

Do your research!
