New to VDL?

I am looking for some help if possible...

A little background first: I am just purchased my first version of VDL (2.5).  I also own and use Sibelius 5.  I am very much a novice as it relates to VDL and sampling in general.  Now, here are my questions:

1. Since we are still waiting on instrument maps from Tapspace, is it beneficial for someone at my level to even begin working/playing with VDL 2.5?  Is this even possible to do anything with out the instrument map?  Should I just wait?

2. Is it possible for someone to write something in Sibelius and then come back and add the VDL sounds later?  Is is practical doing so?

Please forgive the basic level of these questions...

Thanks

Thank you for spending some time in the forum and getting yourself up so speed on a few things.

1) It is possible to use VDL 2.5 in Sibelius 5 without the Template. However, as you have read, some people are having some, shall we say, ";not quite right"; issues with it. For now you should just wait; the Template is in the final stages of testing.

2) Absolutely. If you have a project where you are writing winds and brass or something, you can easily come back later and add the VDL Template instrument definitions to that particular score. You would do this by exporting and importing a House Style from the Template to your current project. This is covered in the documentation that will be released with the Template for those who are not very familiar with doing this.
