Hello again, I recall in previous version one was able to change a notehead (let's say an alternate notehead for quad crossovers). I used to go to the properties pulldown menu and select a different head...now when I do this, I typically get a different sound playback.
Didn't it used to be whichever sound you input via keyboard was the sound no matter what articulation/notehead you add. I guess it's better to have the articulation control the sound. But, what if i don't like the giant Z over the buzz rolls...I used to just input the buzz, then add a pretty little symbol for the z.
Anyone able to shed some light into the new system? Are there good ways to workaround?
thanks, Mike

Prior to Sib 5 that was the way it worked. Now, due to the new SoundWorld format, any and all unpitched percussion sounds each have to have their own sound ID assigned to it in order for Sibelius to know which pitch to trigger in whatever sampler you are using. Another way to say it: it is now notehead specific - as per the mappings for each individual instrument in the Template (or whatever).

Actually, it is notehead/articulation combination specific. Please reread the Template Readme pages 73 thru 75 that covers Customizing Instruments. (Make sure you have the v1.0.5 of the Readme. Go to the Tapspace updates page to get it if you haven't already.)
If you want to not have the ";Z"; articulation on the stem of your notated buzz rolls, you will have to edit the instruments in question and remove the articulation from the mappings (House Style>Edit Instruments). The only problem you may run into is that you may have to change the noteheads so you don't have any ";duplicates";.
From the Readme:  ";As stated earlier, proper playback is contingent on there being only ONE notehead/articulation combination per line or space on the staff in each instrument mapping. You don't have to have an articulation assigned, but whatever you have has to be unique to that line/space.";
So yes, you can have things setup the way you want. If you decide to make these changes, you will just have to make sure to stay within the ";rules"; of SoundWorld.
