Hey guys. Neal's post about the Alabama Day of Percussion for me to thinking that I should post this info as well.
The Kentucky Chapter of The Percussive Arts Society will be hosting their annual Day of Percussion on Saturday, March 8th at The University of Kentucky in Lexington.
Featured guest artists this year are Curt Moore presenting a drum set clinic, Michael Spiro presenting a world percussion clinic, Tom Rarick presenting a front ensemble clinic, Thomas Burritt presenting a marimba clinic and guest conducting the 2008 All Collegiate Percussion Ensemble in concert as well as Frank Oddis and John Willmarth both presenting FUNdamental clinics (practicing and drumset respectively). Registration will open at 8:30 AM with the first clinic beginning at 9 AM. For more info you can check us out on the web at http://www.pas.org/Chapters/Kentucky/ or via our myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/paskychapter.
If you have any questions, you can contact me or Chapter President Jim Corcoran. Our contact info can be found on the Chapter's PAS website.
For those of you who don't know Curt Moore, he's the man who wrote the famous SCV warmup, ";Thirteen."; His DVD on Afro-Cuban rhythms for drumset is outstanding. You can learn a little more about it here: https://www.tapspace.com/MooreAfroCuban.html
Since many of us on this forum are ";marching guys,"; I thought it would be an interesting tie-in for you to know that even though Curt is an amazing drumset player and makes his living as a studio musician, he (like many of us) has drum corps in his roots.
