Recording VDL sounds with Sibelius 3

Hey all,

Rest assured that i have fully checked the board in regards to recording things with Sibelius and VDL, but to no avail have i found the answers to my questions. Being:

1.) From the looks of things, the only way to record is to buy another program and record with that. is this true? what are my capabilities with SIB3?

2.) When trying to record in Sibelius, it notes that only ";kontakt loaded staves will be recorded. Is there a way i can change this?

also, one last request,

I recently had to uninstall and reinstall my notation hardware. I opted to not install the kontakt player that comes with Sibelius for both RAM reasons and etc etc. NOW that I've done this, my save as audio track shortcut key next to save and open is unclickable, as the shortcut in the file menu. how do i change this.

The majority of these dilemmas are similar, so hopefully i can clear this up.

thanks in advance
The Kontakt Player that comes with Sibelius 3 is an older version which they called ";Kontakt Silver"; at the time. It is not capable of loading any third-party sounds (like VDL). The ";save as audio"; feature in Sibelius 3 was only capable of capturing sounds that were being produced from the built-in Kontakt Player. Nothing else will record, even if you're hearing it during playback from another source (like VDL). Instead, most people would use a dedicated audio program like Audacity (free).

There's a FAQ about making audio recordings at the link below. Of course the situation will depend on how you're working, but since you're still in the older version of Sibelius, this may be your best bet.

thanks a lot jim.

different note, i've been surfing tapspace and i found the user submitted demos, and i must say, ";Cop Drama"; is sweet. Is there anyway one could purchase/download this for use with both ensembles and listening pleasure ?

Thanks! Actually, ";Cop Drama"; is going to be released fairly soon, so keep your eye on the Tapspace site and you'll be able to grab it once it's available.
