Sibelius lock / Crash when loading VDL 2.5 Instruments

I start Sibelius, everything works great.  Whenever I try to load any score that calls for VDL instruments, I get one of two errors:

1 - Dialog box - PANIC!  There is not enough Memory.  Application may become unstable! (it does....)
2 - Kontakt Gets about halfway through the BassLine MW loading sequence, and hangs.

I've tried everything I can think of, and I'm hoping someone out there has an idea.  Maybe this is my wife's way of telling me to stop bringing work home?

I'm stumped, since I can load instruments from all of my other libraries with no problem.

VDL works great on my office PC (running XP SP3 with similar specs but half the memory of my home PC).  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!!

My home PC specs:

Intel Quad Core 2.4 GHz
4 GB RAM
500 GB RAID0 HD Array
Realtek 882 Onboard Audio

Windows Vista 32-bit SP1
Sibelius 5.2
Kontakt 2 (all updates installed from Sibelius website)
Garritan Concert / Marching Band
VDL 2.5.1

Joe - I'm not sure, but this sounds like it may be something in your system. 4GB Ram will be plenty (obviously), and loading a simple instrument should not result in that sort of warning. I wonder if it has something to do with Vista, or maybe the audio driver you're using on that machine. Have you altered any of the settings in Sibelius's ";Audio Engine Options"; window? Sometimes hand picking your audio interface there, and altering your buffer setting can result in better performance. It's just difficult to say if this is specifically an audio related issue or not.

Another shot in the dark may be to adjust your DFD slider in KP2 (in the ";options"; section).

The bassline in VDL is one of the larger instruments. Still, you shouldn't have a problem opening it, but for testing purposes, you may want to try loading some smaller VDL instruments. Other than some of the instruments being on the large side, there's nothing in VDL that should perform any differently than your other KP2 libraries.

Another way you may try testing this is directly in the stand-alone version of KP2 to ensure you receive stable results there. If things become unstable when working in Sibelius, that would narrow it down a bit.
Thanks for the reply, Jim - I'll give these strategies a try and report back (just got back from vacation).

I was pretty baffled, too.  I built this system from scratch myself specifically as a Sibelius workstation; It's a matter of pride to get it working right!

I'll let you know if I discover any information that may help shed some light on this.

Joe,

It's only VDL?  How about when you use Sibelius Sound Essentials or the Garritan stuff?  Have you loaded the bassline from SSE  instead of VDL?  If so, does it hang too?
