Writing to recordings

I know it has been done, but i am having an issue.  I am attempting to write an exercise to a recording.  I am trying to work out the timing and get it to line up well.  I have tried everything.  I am wondering if there is a good way to do this.  I run PC, so things like Logic are a bit out the window.  Any ideas?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have searched the multiple forums but haven't found much useful info.  Thanks in advance.

a little known feature, you can use the add video feature in Sibelius.  Instead of selecting a video, select your mp3.
Thanks so much.  I had tried it and even attempted finding a youtube video o f the song to no avail.  Just had to select show all files, I had tried this before but when i didnt see the file in the listing.  I did another route.  Thanks so much.
.... stupid question.... but does anyone have any pointers on how to do this.  I'm having a hard time syncing with the song etc.

You should first edit your mp3 so it starts exactly with the beginning of the piece.  Use Audacity if you do not have another program.  Also, bear in mind that writing to a recording will not always look clean on paper.  You will have to put in some tempo changes to adjust to the speed of your recording.

Bill, yes that was WGI 2006 when the booth was right at the entrance to the side of the performance area.  Murray took the picture which is why he wasn't in it.
Ahh yes, our first show together (well, with you added in anyway).  The memories  :)
I feel a song coming on...
