i recently bought sibelius 5 and haven't had a chance to mess around with it very much.  what i have done is screw around with the percussion stuff and none of it matched the instrument. have I done something wrong or are there templates you can download/select with in teh program or is there anything you can download online? i plan on buying VDL when i have the money but i dont have the money right now.

Have you installed Sibelius Essentials?  Make sure that all of your software is up to date as well.

Reading the manual and using the search feature is always a good start.

well i installed the sound essentials but the sounds (especially for the marching percussion) are still a little strange...but like i said, i have had almost no time to mess around with it.

I recommend that you put some time into the program before calling out for help.  You may find that an hour with the program will answer your questions.  Plus, saying the sounds are "; a little strange"; doesn't help us diagnose your problem.  In the future please be as detailed as possible.
