I just updated to Sib 5.2 from 5.1 and am going to embark on converting scores tomorrow. My question is regarding the conversion of older Sibelius scores. I have held on to Sibelius 4 because I never transferred some scores to Sib 5.1 because the templates wouldn't read. Would the copy functions outlined in the tutorial videos and in the short cut message be applicable from Sib 4 to Sib 5.2? I thought I would ask first before I tried to copy all my items.
Also, do I need to delete any manuscripts/templates that I saved and used for 5.1 correct?
The method for getting notes from score 1 (originating in Sibelius 4) would be the same as you see in the 5.2 videos. The problem is that the VDL template designs from Sibelius 4 to Sibelius 5 are completely different, which will make this process unsuccessful.
Basically, if you have a score from Sibelius 4 that uses the VDL template (for Sibelius 4), and want to get that into Sibelius 5, your best bet is to actually re-enter the music. Keep in mind, this isn't very difficult for pitched instruments. The unpitched instruments are the ones that pose the biggest conversion problems, so those are the parts you'd want to re-enter.
It seems that most users in this situation are choosing to simply use Sibelius 4 to play back those older scores, running VDL sounds in standalone mode, etc. Not the ideal situation I realize, but one of the side-effects of the new playback structure in Sibelius 5.

Thanks for the response Jim. I have already converted eight 5.1 scores in an hour. The one thing I notice that's different has to do with the Essentials instruments. Example, I will have Flute solo -1 in the 5.1 score and it's sound was GPO, in 5.2. the same instruments sound is not a ";virtual"; sound. I've had to go back and rechange those sounds from the converted scores. Simple soulution, choose different instruments in set up, but was this something new in the ";essentials"; update as well?
Thanks again for all that you do.

The majority of the changes from 5.1 to 5.2 (as far as I'm concerned) had to do with the sound set and the way Sibelius handles this information. As such, this affected all sound sets, including the one for Essentials.
