I have Sibelius 5 (.2.5) with VDL 2.5. I'm using a Dell XPS 400 with 3.75 GB of RAM, 7200 RPM hard drive, Windows XP, Pentium (R)D CPU 2.80 GHZ and what else can I tell you about my system what would help.
I've noticed an interesting problem with the marimba voice. I'm not using the 2.5 marimba instruments but instead for that voice I am using the Sibelius Essentials marimba (I was having a DFD issue and was trying to look for ways to minimize the conflict). The problem is I noticed in playback, the marimba voices (there are 3) play 3 times for each note entered regardless of note value. Could be a quarter, 8th or 16th note and they all play 3 times for each note, both in playback or when highlighted.
I searched the forum for help but wasn't quite sure HOW to search for that issue. I looked at settings but again, like in the forum, am not sure where I should search or for what.
Well, I wasn't sure there was an answer so I loaded the VDL 2.5 voices, copied the parts and pasted them into the 2.5 marimbas and deleted the non-2.5 instruments. It fixed the problem but I don't know what caused the issue in the first place.
For those that read the post, don't invest any time on it. Hopefully I won't have any additional DFD issues.
Thanks, Steve CVMB

Hi Steve - That sounds like an odd problem to have. I'm glad to hear that using the VDL 2.5 marimbas fixed the problem for you. I don't know what may have been causing the Essentials marimba to behave that way. It may be worth checking with the folks at Sibelius.
You said it occurs regardless of the rhythm, but is the rhythm of the three notes the same each time?

Hi Jim, good to hear from you again.
Yes, the pattern was (could have been any sequence) two 8th notes, 4 16th notes, two 8th notes, 4 16 notes in a measure, a quarter note in the next (though I might not have the sequence right it didn't seem to matter). There are 3 marimbas loaded in the score. No matter which marimba you chose or which of those note values you chose anywhere in the score (up to 164 measures so far), when selected either individually or during playback, they all played a sequence that you would write out as 16th, 16th, 8th. It didn't matter if it was a quarter or a 16th. All of them played the 3 notes. It was weird to be sure.

This is a long shot, but you may want to check to make sure your marimba parts don't have anything in the 3rd keypad layout activated. This is where you'd enter slashes, and of course, you'd notice if there were slashes on the notes, but it's possible (maybe) that you somehow activated the tremolo button here (long button, lowest right button on the bottom of the third keypad layout).

Any thought on this one?
