Just a heads up for those of you looking at new computers...
The new iMac's have a Lucent Agere firewire chipset that is not compatible with many firewire audio interfaces...including as I just found out, the M Audio Projectmix. Apparently some of the Mac laptops have this same issue.
Forgive me if this has been discussed, but my excitement about my new gear has been shattered temporarily. Request the Texas Instruments chipset if ordering new.

Good to know.
I don't get Apple sometimes- they only put a FW 800 port on the MacBook Pro, and no fireware at all on the MacBook. Millions of cameras, external drives, and audio gear are suddenly not compatible. It's ridiculous. It's possible to get a firewire Expresscard for laptops, but who wants that sticking out the side?
