VDL 2.5 - I think my installation media might be ruined?

I'm trying to reinstall Virtual Drumline 2.5, but my DVD isn't working properly. As soon as I insert the disc, my entire computer lags a lot. While browsing the disc, it's extremely slow. The installer will start (after taking a long time to load), but then it'll immediately crash. I can't even access the documentation directory. I've excluded my DVD-ROM drive from my antivirus, but still I'm having problems. The DVD is in excellent condition - there are no visible scratches or fingerprints.

All my other software, including Sibelius 5, installed without a hitch. I'm only getting this problem with VDL 2.5. Here's a screenshot of what happens when trying to access the documentation directory:

I'm running Windows Server 2008 as my operating system, which is basically Vista.

Assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Hi sluggxp. I haven't heard of this before. It's difficult to tell, but it sounds like there's something about the disk that your computer doesn't like. Your screenshot looks like it's reading the disk fine, but for some reason is treating it as corrupt. This may be a long shot, but do you have an external disk drive you might be able to try installing from? If not, we can try a replacement disk and see if that helps. Feel free to reply here, or send me a PM if you'd like to try getting a replacement.
Why is the DVD drive the A: drive?  That's normally reserved for the Floppy drive and could be causing problems.  System drive should be C, DVD should be D, etc.

Also, Windows will sometimes change a drive from UDMA mode to PIO mode if it has trouble reading discs, and then it's a pain to get it back to UDMA mode.  A DVD drive stuck in PIO mode will be extremely slow.
