Sibelius 5.2.5 Template

Just to be sure...

The templates from this point on that we will use will need to be purchased from the store. Can we expect a new template pretty much with every Sibelius upgrade, depending on what kind of changes they make to the Soundworld functionality?

This is not a complaint in any way, I just want to make sure I understand. To be honest, after hearing you guys talk about how much work goes into the development of these templates, I'm surprised they've been free as long as they have! If you had made some kind of PayPal Donate button I would have gladly donated something:)
Agreed. With how much work goes into those templates, we've all been incredibly lucky (and grateful) that they have been free up until this point. For me, paying $10 for something that I use regularly for business is worth every penny. Plus, it's barely more than a lunch from McDonald's :)
I hope people realize you don't get Sibelius or Finale templates with any other sample library.  $10 for the amount of work that goes into it is a great bargain.
So when can we expect your Logic Template, Jesse?

(I think Im just showing my ignorance, is there even a need for that?!)
Hi guys,

Thanks for understanding about our need to charge for the template. It's not a decision we made hastily. As for what to expect in future updates, it'll be difficult for us to forecast right now. We've tried to take enough time to ensure the template and sound set is functioning very well, hopefully minimizing the need to release maintenance updates to fix undiscovered bugs (which would be free).

If significant enough changes are made in upcoming models to the sound set format, it may require a lot of extra development time in which case we'd have to consider charging for more substantial updates. Much of this will be out of our control until we have a better sense of what will (or won't) be evolving with Soundworld. My sense is that the biggest hurdle has already been crossed with the initial transition to the Soundworld playback landscape in Sibelius 5. What the future holds will remain to be seen.

We're mindful of not just churning out rehashed versions of the same material. There's a lot of that going on in the world of software development. Most importantly, we want to focus on providing useful tools that continue to enable our customers to benefit effectively. We're a pretty unique niche, and cater to a pretty unique customer. So we appreciate the fact that we can all share in this passion for percussion and keep each other moving forward.

Thanks again gang!
No complaints here.  The cost is no comparison to the enormous value that can be gained from using the VDL template.  All of my marching band scores and concert band scores are built off of the template.  The increased productivity and the ability to share my ideas are enhanced far beyond a fee.  I'm just thankful that it was free for as long as it has been.
Anything we can do to proliferate and move the art form forward is easily worth the nominal fee.

Keep of the great work guys!
Just a quick update on the 5.2.5 tutorial videos. Hugh Smith has added a well done tutorial on using the Trigger Test files as well. You'll see it listed as video #9 in the playlist here. We recommend you view these videos in ";full screen"; mode.

If the concept of these test files hasn't quite sunk in yet, hopefully you'll find these helpful. If anything, playing around with these can give you new insight to some of the sounds and functions you may not have known were programmed into VDL. Great work Hugh!

Getting VDL2.5 just for the cost of media means you can charge whatever you want for a while. :P  I couldn't function without these--thanks for all the hard work.
Great job!
Hey Guys,

Due to a Drive Crash and a not so good backup. I have to reinstall the whole suite again. Is it possible to re-download the template? I will have to try and track down my order for it but didn't know if it was possible.

Thanks in advance,

Chuck

Hi Chuck. I'll get in touch with you directly so we can work it out.
Just a quick question. I'm new to VDL and Sibelius (I had used Finale for years...).  I have Sibelius 6 and was wondering if the 5.2.5 Template will work in the new version of Sibelius.

Also, thank you so much for the tutorial videos! They have been extremely helpful even without the template.

Sarah, welcome to the Forum!

The 5.2.5 Template will work in Sibelius 6, with one exception. Here is how to fix it:
