Advice Requested

So I started writing a solo, and I guess I have mildly serious intentions of taking it to DCA's I&E contest. It's not clean by any stretch, because it's not even written yet. That's why you're going to see several edits. I mean, I think you'll still ";get"; the general flow of the first two movements here. But I had to take several whacks at it, because I can't play it yet.

And what I'm asking is if it feels, from a spectator's standpoint, like a logical flow from one thought to the next. Importantly, the solo is meant to be supremely accessable to the viewing audience. It's designed to be very obvious and to display the basics in composition, as well as some chops, because it seems like that's what really grabs judges.

So let me know what you think. Constructively, of course. And I'll get the last ";movement"; up when I write it. My idea is that it'll be really fast, to contrast the medium tempo of the second section.

I dig it. I especially like the stick ";fart"; at the end of the 2nd clip.

My first thought was that it jumped into the backsticking too soon after the opening statement. The opening groove is cool, I'd stay on it a bit longer!

Cool stuff!

Yeah, pretty much everyone on every forum has voiced that same idea - doing more to express the groove - staying true to the music, versus going, ";Hey, watch what I can do."; I mean, I'm down with both, but I want to have something competitive, so input is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Okay...

So I put another practice session underneath this thing, for a grand total of two, and this is what came out, for better or worse:
