I am trying to move notes written originally in a Sibelius score without VDL, into a Sibelius score with a VDL template. Most sounds are transferring no problem, but the marimba is playing every note as rolls.
Also, when writing sus cymbal parts and other accessories (bongos, toms) how can these sounds be utilized in conjunction with the marimba sounds?
I am using Sibelius 5.25 Kontakt Player 2, VDL template 5.2.5 on a macbook OS X, 2.2. GHz, 2 GB Ram.
I'm not sure what might be causing this. For starters, I'd check to make sure that certain text items in the music you're transferring isn't inadvertently creating some sort of sound ID change (thus moving the mod-wheel).
You might also manually type this into the first measure of your marimba parts: ~C1,1
If you're only hearing the rolling marimbas when you're entering music, your mod-wheel (on your midi keyboard) probably just needs to be moved to the most downward position.

I've had this issue before (our winds arranger uses Sib 4 and sometimes writes in keyboard suggestions). The issue here is the notes may look correct, but they are actually an octave or two off. Try transposing the entire staff down to bring the notes back to the non-roll notes.

Since no one has answered this:
You want to create an instrument change on your marimba staff, changing it to some accesory instrument. Write the accessory parts as desired, then create another instrument chage back to Marimba. The process for doing this is described in detail in the VDL 5.2.5 Template Readme.

That's almost 100% accurate. It's documented in the Sibelius Reference, but whether or not you have to create the instrument change to get back to the original instrument just depends on how you select and insert your instrument change.
If you select a passage, then insert it, Sibelius automatically inserts an instrument change back to the original instrument--marimba in your example. If you select a note or rest before where you want it to take place then you'll have to create another instrument change to get back to the original instrument.
