Re-visiting Finale -> xml -> Sibelius: sounds playing back with wrong pitches

Finale 2009b
Sibelius 5.2.5
IMAC (work)
Powerbook G4 (home)

I have addressed this problem to the Sibelius folks
and they have not been able to help me.  They say
they can play it back with no problems, they send it to
me, and then my file does not play back properly.

1.  Essentially and this past week, our arranger sent me a chart in Finale 2009b.
2.  I exported the file as an xml and then opened it in Sibelius.
3.  I have done so with Sibelius assigning the instruments
and with myself assigning the instruments.
4.  I have tried using Sibelius Essentials, DLS, and SmartSynth sounds for the playback device.
5.  The file plays back with various instruments sounding ";out of tune,";
like they're a half step off.  The piccolo is the worst offender.
6.  I do not alter the key signature.  I have tried playing the files
back as a transposing ad non-transposing scores.  Both approaches yield
the same result.
7.  If I play the Finale file as is, it plays back perfectly.
8.  I have attached one of the files that was converted from
Finale to xml to Finale.

If anyone can help me solve this mystery, I
would be extremely grateful.  Today, I toyed with the
idea of re-learning Finale so as to avoid this problem.
Hope everyone has a Happy and safe 4th of July!

Take care,
Neal
UPDATE:

Today, as per the Sibelius tech support instruction, I
took the score I imported from Finale as an XML
into Sibelius and then copied that and pasted it into
a brand new score created in Sibelius.  The piccolo,
and clarinets 1 and 2 are playing back like they are a
1/2 step off.  Everything else seems fine.  Any thoughts?

Take care,
Neal
This might sound crazy, but I'm not having the same problem with the file you posted for download. Everything is playing back with the correct pitches. That makes me wonder if it's a sound card issue. I don't have much to go off of to think that, but it might make sense.

Speaking of not knowing enough... could it be the different sound banks or sources you are trying to use?

I know that's not much help, but I'd want to know if it played back correctly on someone else's computer.
Hey Neal, sorry for taking so long to get back with you. I concur with Eric in that it opens and plays back fine in both 5 and 6.

Not sure what the problem could be, but could you e-mail me the XML file that you've exported from Finale? That way I can check to see if the problem is something being lost in translation.
Neal,

The file posted plays back correctly for me also in Sib 5.2.0, with no adjustments. Is it possible something has happened to your instances of KP2? I had an issue before where I nudged the tuning on an instrument by accident within KP2 and unfortunately I saved those files. I had to do a re-installation to clean things up. Do other files work correctly?

Derek

Derek,

Now that you mention KP2, I seem to remember maybe going in there
and trying to tweak something a good while ago.  If I re-installed,
would I do so through the Sibelius DVD?  I ordered the upgrade to 6.
Will that affect my addressing KP2?  Thanks for your help.

Take care,
Neal

Version 6 does not include a Kontakt Player.  You should reinstall your KP from the VDL disc if needed.

Hi Neal,

I just re-read your original post. You stated this issue happens with smart synth and essentials. This rules out KP2. It may be worth trying a re-install of Sibelius or waiting for your upgrade.
