Hi, When I open up Sibelius the perc sounds are loading fine, but when I go to actually write music the battery sounds are weird. I have the wind score and I am writing the battery score with it, but like I said the sounds don't sound right.
I opened another score just battery and pit, and the battery sounds are the same as before...weird. I started adding notes to the keyboard parts and they were even weirder. Everytime I put a note in for a xylo it glisses....when I put a note in for a marimba it rolls for a beat. The vibes are fine and the timpani are fine. Am I doing something wrong?
I should say that I do not have a midi keyboard....I hear its best to use one...I am going to get one. Until then I need some help with this and I am new to VDL.
How do I get the sounds to be ";Normal"; and fix the xylo glisses and marimba rolls. How do I change snare sounds...like adding pings or rimshots...etc...

Sounds like you're not using the template. In the store, purchase and download the Sibelius template which should help you with those issues.

I did purchase the template and it seems to load fine when I open sibelius...I watch the snare, tenor and bass, etc....sounds load. Once I start writing battery parts they don't sound right.
And again, the keyboard sunds especially xylo and marimba are not sounding right.

I'm presuming you're using Sibelius 5.2.5. Make sure you have the correct Sound Set selected for the Kontakt Player 2 instance in Play -> Playback Configuration, not the ";Tapspace Virtual Drumline"; version that ships with Sibelius. This is amply documented in the Readme that came with the template.

Yes - As per the template Readme, VDL manuals, and numerous posts on this forum, the template/sound set combination is essentially the middle man between Sibelius and VDL. Make sure you read through both, if you haven't already.
The best thing to do is use the template file as your starting point, then ";Save As"; whatever the file is going to be. For instance, if you're working on your 2009 Marching Band Opener, Save As ";2009 Marching Band Opener";. That way, you won't affect the original template.
Another thing you could do, if you have a lot of writing projects using similar setups, is to load all of your instruments (e.g. Snares, Tenors, Basses) and save it as a Battery Template. You'll save yourself the time of doing it every time you want to write something for that instrumentation.
Hope this helped.
